Hello fellow Italian food fanatics, I have a new feature on my blog. It’s called ‘The Italian Recipe Exchange’. If you’ve ever wanted your own favorite Italian recipe posted and up for the world to see, you might want to click ‘The Italian Recipe Exchange’ button on my home page and read all about it.
Interesting photo of Italian megastar Marcello above. Waht a guy he was.
As a working class lad being brought up in South Wales I escaped from my school studies and the post-war greyness of the 1950s by visiting my local cinema (“The Bug House”) a couple of times a week watching American gangster films – as well as comedy from The Bowery Boys (my favourites).
I always admired the well-dressed, sharp elegance and haircuts of the American actors epecially in the film-noir movies. The one I admired the most and considered my role model (still do) was/and is Richard Conte. Such great style and magnetic presence. Naturally he was an Italian-American.
Another favourite was the suave, elegant, sophisticated and urbane Joseph Cotten. Such class – especially in “Niagara”.
The scruffy Brandos and the moody James Deans never had any impact on me.
The morale of my tale ? Life-long Italian elegance and sophistication always outweighs trendy, of-the-moment, down-at-heal anti-heroes.
