I give private and small group cooking classes in Manhattan, specializing in Southern Italian and Mediterranean cooking. My teaching is based on improvisation. My aim is to set you free in the kitchen. Right now I’m focusing on the flavors of Sicily and North Africa, but the cooking of Campania and Puglia are always in my heart . I’m also working on a summer herb cooking class, which will be given in the Hudson Valley. I’ll let you know when I get that pulled together.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have about classes ericademane@gmail.com
I’m involved in a historic group. We are looking for a recipe to minni de agatha pastry. Can you help me find it?
Erica can you hold virtual classes. This way you can hold them in your kitchen, and I can learn using mine! Certain domains allow 50 students per session with no problems. Just a thought. I am selfish, I would like to take a class. My family is from Calabria and Vittoria, Sicily!
Linda, I’ve been thinking about doing something like that. If I decide to set it up, I’ll let you know.
Best,
Erica
Please do let us know if/when you decide to explore this route regarding cooking classes. I live in Hershey, PA, so although I’d love to take a private cooking class with you, a virtual class would be the next best thing. Thanks!
Dear Erica,
Hi from Boston. I’d love to know what’s on for classes in 2018.
Best wishes
Thom Mulhern
Hi Thom, I’m still figuring it out my classes for this year. I’ll get back to you soon when I sort it out. Erica
Ms DeMane: I came across your books and site researching your Dad, the great Dick DeMane from Long Island. I am a PGA Life Member and Quarter Century Member, and the Historian of the Metropolitan PGA. I knew your Dad and his boon pal Nunzio Ciampi of Glen Head CC when I was a young assistant pro in the 70’s, and see your cousin (?) Rick once in a while in Greenwich. I loved the picture of your Dad in a restaurant with Al Feminelli and another pal, very evocative and nostalgic. Al was the long time pro at a club in Rockland county, Dellwood, and once finished 20th in the US OPEN. It may have been after a Pro Am, somewhere in Westchester, possibly at La Manda’s in Elmsford, which was de riguer for old school Southern Italian after a tournament. It was the old time hang out of the legendary Turnesa clan. La Manda’s is still open virtually unchanged since the 50’s. Keep up the great work, love to meet you one day,,,,,,Best wishes, Steve Elias PGA .
Hi Steve, Thanks so much for your note. Seeing all those names in print, my Dad’s buddies, is quite comforting. Nunzio spoke at my Dad’s funeral. And your name sounds familiar. I wonder if my father spoke of you at some point? The other guy in that great photo with Dick and Al is Tommy Strafacci, a pro from, I think, Brooklyn. I also remember Jim Turnesa. I’d love to go to La Manda. Possibly I even went there as a kid. Probably you came across this in your research, but just in case, my cousin Rick put together a history of golf in my family. Dick’s Father, Nick, was also a pro. And so were other family members. Here’s the link.

I live in Manhattan, in the West Village. Maybe we could get together some time.
Thanks again.
